The Florida Learning Network: Free Virtual Tutoring for Students The Florida Learning Network provides students homework help when they need it. Whether students are struggling with subject-related concepts or need assistance with weak skill areas, tutors are available through the convenience of the Internet. Students can connect with a tutor from home, after-school programs, and the library—anywhere there is an Internet connection. Florida Learning Network is a collection of online resources for students in grades K-12. Tutoring and guidance in accordance with Sunshine State Standards is provided for mathematics, science, reading, and social studies at no cost. The Florida Tutor Network is a similarly designed site with the same features and is offered by the Florida Department of Education to students attending schools in the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC), North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC), and Heartland Educational Consortium. Pre-K Registration Preliminary registration for 2008-09 Pre-K classes has begun. You may begin the registration process in the IES front office. Your child will need to be four-years-old on or before September 1, 2008. You will need to bring proof of residency and your child's birth certificate when you come. Filling out the paperwork only begins the registration process, it does not guarantee your acceptance into the Pre-K program. You will be notified after June 1 if you have been accepted. NCLB and Title I IES receives funding through the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND (NCLB) ACT OF 2001. These funds provide for TITLE I services that include: funding for the hiring of additional teachers and instructional assistants, funding for additional equipment and supplies, and funding for staff development activities. The Title I office is availble to assist our children and their families with support for educational endeavors and can be reached at 329-0543. |
